~ Artists' Favorite Places ~
It’s a Tradition
When you think of Claude Monet, paintings of his lily pond come to mind. Charles Russell and Frederick Remington? Cowboys and Indians, buffalo hunts and desert cactus. Montague Dawson and John Stobart? Grand ships sailing the seas and historic harbor towns. Artists over time can become identified with their favorite scenes and they and their subjects often become synonymous.
What makes a Place a Favorite?
To answer the question of ‘why’ this love for particular places, the artists will share their perspective in a 'conversation' at 2:00pm at the show opening on Sunday, June 10. Audience participation is always welcome. I hope it will be educational, and informative and at the end of the discussion, perhaps we will look at the exhibit with new ‘eyes’ and appreciate the artists and their paintings from a new viewpoint.
