Motivation to Travel

For many years artists have traveled to paint. Claude Monet yearned to go to Venice to paint after seeing paintings by both his English friend JMW Turner and his American friend, James McNeill Whistler. Even though frail and later in life, he felt compelled to see for himself the canals and grand architecture to paint the same scenes his friends had recorded. 

As artists hear about or see paintings of Maine's lighthouses, the Grand Canyon, the Low County of the Carolinas, or California's rocky coast, they are inspired to travel to paint these landmark locations. Come participate in the conversation and enjoy! Cynthia McBride
