~ Perfectly Pastel ~

"Perfectly Pastel" features 10 artists, both regional and national award-wining pastelists. The show runs from July 3 to July 31. Pastel has become a popular medium for plein air painters and has long been a favorite for studio painters dating back to its first known use in the 1600's. With 3 national art magazines devoted to pastel artists, major regional and national shows and competitions, it is a medium collectors are taking seriously. Not commonly known is that pastel is the most permanent of all media as it never cracks, darkens or yellows with age.

This exhibit celebrates a variety of styles and subject matter in pastel. Featured artists include Marylander's David Lawton, past president of the Maryland Pastel Society, Lisa Mitchell and Maria Marino. Artists from around the country are: Albert Handell, Nancie King Mertz, Brenda Boylan, Steven Hill, Marc R. Hanson, Jo Ellen Murphy and more.
