Cynthia Feustel is a traditional oil painter and portrait artist based in Colorado who has painted the human face and figure for nearly twenty years. Her subjects come to life through her attention to subtle detail, lighting and color choices bringing a sense of drama and beauty to her work. Whether capturing an introspective moment of a figure or the quiet stillness in an arrangement of treasured objects, the sensitive rendering of her subjects compels one to become involved in her paintings and has garnered her many awards and recognition. She works full-time as a commissioned portrait artist, still life painter and teacher in her Colorado Springs studio.
At a young age, the innate desire to create was nurtured by Cynthia's mother who was a professional seamstress. This led her to pursue Fashion Illustration as a major at the Art Institute of Pittsburgh.. She followed a career in graphic design before turning her attention to the fine art of classical oil painting. Largely self-taught and fueled by the belief that one should never stop learning, she is eager to share her knowledge and experience by mentoring others in traditional oil painting techniques.
Cynthia's paintings are exhibited across the U.S. in gallery, museum and invitational exhibitions. Her work has received awards with Women Artists of the West (Best of Show), American Women Artists, NOAPS and Oil Painter's of America. She has been featured in various art magazines including Art of the West, Fine Art Connoisseur, Western Art Collector, Southwest Art and International Artist Magazine. She is a signature member of American Women Artists.
