Annapolis Traditions
by Carol Dyer
|
Carol Dyer is an accomplished painter of early American traditions. Born in Boston, Massachusetts, she now resides in Maryland where she paints full time. Well known for her Washington Christmas Series, her paintings of historic buildings in our nation’s capitol command significant audiences throughout this country and abroad.
Authenticity and meticulous attention to detail are trademarks of her paintings which celebrate the different aspects of American life at the turn of the century. She often remarks that one should read my paintings like a book. Carol began her artistic career painting signs for friends and neighbors who enjoyed her unique folk art designs. A close examination of her paintings shows her continued enjoyment for signs. A happy, energetic person, these attributes are reflected in her colorful, sunny images of an era long ago.
Carol has exhibited extensively, recently completing a major national project for the Mystic Seaport Museum painting historic harbors including: Annapolis, Baltimore, Boston, Alexandria, New Orleans, San Francisco, and New York. The Mystic Museum is publishing Album of American Traditions, a book of Carol Dyer’s life as an artist.
Annapolis Traditions is a portrayal of Newman Street Park in downtown historic Annapolis. The Annapolis Rotary Club is offering signed and numbered prints to raise funds to support renovations of this popular park.
